FluentCart vs WooCommerce vs SureCart 2026, Which Store Plugin to Pick

FluentCart vs WooCommerce vs SureCart 2026, Which Store Plugin to Pick

FluentCart vs WooCommerce comes down to what you sell. FluentCart is the better pick for digital products, subscriptions, software licences, courses and services. Subscriptions, tax and reports are free in the core plugin, and Pro is a single $199 a year.

WooCommerce is still the right call for big physical catalogues, complex shipping, marketplaces and anything that needs a niche extension. SureCart sits between them: a polished hosted checkout that is free to start but takes 2.9% of every sale until you pay $199 a year.

I build WooCommerce sites for clients, so I am not switching anyone for fun. I installed FluentCart and WooCommerce on two identical fresh WordPress installs, loaded the same three products and measured what a visitor actually downloads.

My Verdict

Best for digital and subscriptionsFluentCart4.5/5

The best value of the three for anything you sell without a shipping label. Subscriptions are free and Pro is $199 a year with no cut of your sales.

What works

  • Subscriptions, tax, EU VAT and reports free in the core plugin
  • 0% transaction fees on free and Pro
  • No jQuery, and the lightest non-store pages in my test
  • Built-in migrator for WooCommerce and Easy Digital Downloads

What does not

  • Licensing, order bumps and dynamic pricing need Pro
  • Live carrier rates and label printing are still marked coming soon
  • Small ecosystem, 9,000 installs after one year

Best for physical storesWooCommerce4.4/5

Still the safest platform for physical products, complex shipping and stores that need a specific integration. Budget for the extensions.

What works

  • Free core with the largest extension ecosystem in WordPress
  • Best choice for physical catalogues, shipping and marketplaces
  • Every developer and host knows it

What does not

  • Subscriptions cost $279 a year, licensing $179 a year
  • Loads jQuery and its stylesheets on every page
  • A paid stack of extensions adds up per store

Best hosted checkoutSureCart4.1/5

The quickest way to a slick checkout with upsells built in, as long as you accept a platform model and either the 2.9% fee or the $199 plan.

What works

  • Every feature on every plan, including upsells and cart abandonment
  • Polished hosted checkout with 100+ payment methods
  • Highest WordPress.org rating of the three

What does not

  • Free plan takes 2.9% of every sale
  • Store data and checkout run on SureCart's platform, not your database
  • Needs a SureCart account to sell anything

What Each Plugin Actually Is

FluentCart comes from WPManageNinja, the team behind FluentCRM and Fluent Forms. It launched on WordPress.org in October 2025 and now has 9,000+ active installs and version 2.2.0. It stores products, orders and customers in its own database tables instead of WordPress post tables.

WooCommerce is Automattic's free store plugin, on WordPress.org since 2011 with 7,000,000+ installs. The core is free; most advanced features are paid extensions sold yearly on the WooCommerce marketplace.

SureCart is a Brainstorm Force product (the Astra team) with 80,000+ installs. The plugin connects WordPress to SureCart's own platform, which runs checkout, payments, subscriptions and tax, so you need a SureCart account before you can sell.

Pricing: What Each Store Really Costs

FluentCart Pro is sold per site, billed yearly, with all Pro features on every plan and a 60 day refund window. FluentCart sold lifetime licences until its 30 October 2026 deadline; new buyers now get yearly plans only.

FluentCart planSitesPrice
FreeUnlimited$0
Pro, 1 site1$199/yr

Pro, 50 sites (agency)50$899/yr

WooCommerce core costs nothing, so the bill depends on the extensions you need. These are the official yearly prices for features FluentCart and SureCart include:

WooCommerce extensionPrice per year
WooCommerce Subscriptions$279
Software Add-on (licence keys)$179
Table Rate Shipping$119
Product Bundles$79
USD prices from the WooCommerce marketplace, per store, checked on 31 October 2026.

SureCart gives every plan the same features. You pay either a fee per sale or a yearly or one time licence:

Cost of a Real Subscription Store

Take one site selling a $20 monthly membership with $2,000 in monthly sales. Payment processor fees are the same everywhere, so I leave them out.

PlatformWhat you pay forYearly cost
FluentCart freeNothing extra, subscriptions are free$0
FluentCart ProIf you want failed renewal retries, upgrade paths or order bumps$199
WooCommerceSubscriptions extension$279
SureCart Launch2.9% of $24,000 in sales$696
SureCart ProYearly licence, no fee$199

Once sales pass about $6,900 a year, SureCart's 2.9% fee costs more than its $199 Pro plan, so most real stores end up paying for SureCart Pro anyway.

My Page Weight Test, FluentCart Free vs WooCommerce Free

Speed is the main reason people search for a WooCommerce alternative, and some reviews claim FluentCart pages are two to three times lighter. I wanted my own numbers, so I ran a controlled test.

Test detailWhat I used
SetupTwo fresh WordPress 7.1.4 installs on PHP 8.3, the default Twenty Twenty-Five theme, one store plugin each: FluentCart 2.2.0 or WooCommerce 11.2.1, both free from WordPress.org
ProductsThe same three simple products on both (Canvas Tote Bag $24, Ceramic Coffee Mug $16, Notebook Set of Three $12), with no product photos, so each plugin shows its own placeholder image
MeasuredEvery file a logged out visitor downloads in Chrome with the cache off, counted as uncompressed bytes, on the blog home page, the shop page and a single product page
PageFluentCart requestsFluentCart sizeWooCommerce requestsWooCommerce size
Blog home page12272 KB19473 KB
Shop page31603 KB30542 KB
Single product page29615 KB38652 KB
My test, uncompressed bytes per page view. The theme's font, scripts and HTML are included in both columns.

Store pages came out roughly the same weight. The big gap is on the rest of the site.

Page weight bars: blog home 272 KB FluentCart vs 473 KB WooCommerce, shop 603 KB vs 542 KB, product page 615 KB vs 652 KB

On a plain blog page with no products, WooCommerce loaded 179 KB of its own CSS and JavaScript plus 99 KB of jQuery. FluentCart loaded 62 KB (its cart drawer and app script) and no jQuery, which saves 201 KB on every blog post and page.

On the shop page, FluentCart came out 61 KB heavier. 30 KB of that is its larger placeholder image, which disappears once you upload real photos; the rest is its filter and product card assets.

FluentCart shop page on Twenty Twenty-Five with the filter button and the three test products

On the single product page, FluentCart made 9 fewer requests and was 37 KB lighter, even though it loaded 74 KB of review styles because reviews are switched on by default. Both shop pages look much the same on the default theme.

WooCommerce shop page on Twenty Twenty-Five showing all 3 results, with the tote bag and coffee mug cards

So FluentCart is lighter, but nowhere near the three times some posts quote. For a content site that sells a few products, the 201 KB saved on every article matters more than the shop page.

Your theme matters too. For a WooCommerce build I go with Blocksy without a second thought, because its WooCommerce templates are the best I have used across 100+ client sites.

FluentCart Free: Setup and What You Get

On activation FluentCart creates its Shop, Cart, Checkout, Receipt and Account pages and opens a four step setup wizard for store country, name, currency and logo. The admin is a single app with tabs for orders, customers, products, subscriptions and reports.

The product editor handles physical and digital goods in one screen. A Subscription switch sits in the pricing panel, next to shipping weight and downloadable files, and it works in the free version.

Stripe, PayPal and cash on delivery are built into the free plugin. The settings screen also lists Paystack, Razorpay, Mercado Pago and Flutterwave, while Paddle, Mollie and Authorize.Net are Pro.

Pro, from the FluentCart pricing page, adds:

  • Software licensing with an activation API, installments and upgrade paths
  • Order bumps, dynamic pricing and on page checkout
  • Failed renewal retries, custom email templates, PDF invoices and e-invoices
  • Advanced inventory and advanced reports

Live carrier rates and label printing are listed as Pro features coming soon.

Where WooCommerce Still Wins

Use caseWhy WooCommerce
Physical catalogues with real shippingCarrier rates, labels, table rates, local pickup and fulfilment integrations all exist today as extensions
Marketplaces, bookings and point of saleMulti vendor plugins, booking systems and POS tools are built for WooCommerce first
Niche integrationsA specific ERP, carrier, payment gateway or product configurator usually exists only for WooCommerce
Hiring and handoverEvery WordPress developer knows it, which matters when a client takes the site in house

With 4,832 ratings at 90 out of 100 on WordPress.org, WooCommerce is also the most battle tested of the three. FluentCart's 90 out of 100 comes from 46 ratings.

Where SureCart Fits

SureCart suits someone who wants a finished checkout on day one without assembling plugins. Every plan has upsells, order bumps, cart abandonment, subscription saver offers and 100+ payment methods.

The trade is the model. Your checkout, orders and subscriptions run on SureCart's platform, so the free plan pays 2.9% per sale, and an outage or price change on their side affects your store.

Against FluentCart, SureCart includes one click upsells and cart abandonment emails on every plan. FluentCart keeps all data in your own database and charges nothing per sale on its free plan. At $199 a year for one site, both Pro plans cost the same.

Moving From WooCommerce to FluentCart

FluentCart ships a migrator that moves WooCommerce products, customers and orders, and a second one for Easy Digital Downloads 2 and 3.

Plan active WooCommerce subscriptions carefully, because recurring payments are tied to the gateway's stored customer and card records. Run the migration on a staging copy, check renewals there, then switch.

My Recommendation

For digital products, subscriptions, licences and services, install FluentCart free and only buy Pro when you need licensing or order bumps. For a physical store with real shipping, stay on WooCommerce.

Choose SureCart Pro if a conversion focused hosted checkout matters more to you than keeping store data in WordPress.
