GreenGeeks vs Hostinger 2026, Which Host Is Cheaper and Better?

GreenGeeks wins on a 12 month plan, daily backups and certified green energy. Hostinger wins over four years and on renewals. Real prices on every term, compared.

GreenGeeks is the better pick if you want to pay for one year at a time, get daily backups on the cheapest plan and host on a certified green platform. Hostinger is the better pick if you want the lowest total cost over four years and room for three sites on the entry plan. On a 12 month term GreenGeeks is actually cheaper at every level, $2.95 against $3.99 a month on the entry plans. Over four years Hostinger wins clearly, because its long term deal and its renewals are both lower.

I am a partner of both and I track both companies' Black Friday prices every year, so this is not a page that pretends one host wins everything. I went through both pricing pages and both checkouts on 23 Oct 2026, on every billing term, because the term you pick changes the answer more than anything else in this comparison.

My Verdict in One Minute

  • Choose GreenGeeks for one site or a few, a 12 month commitment, daily backups on every plan, cPanel, phone support and a 300% renewable energy match backed by a published certificate.
  • Choose Hostinger for the lowest long term price, three websites on the $2.49 plan, cheaper renewals and a Black Friday sale that is live right now. My code WPRAHUL takes another 10% off.
  • Same on both: free domain for a year, free SSL, free migration, built in WordPress caching, 24/7 support, a 30 day money back guarantee and a 4.6 Trustpilot score.

Pricing: It Depends Entirely on the Term You Pick

This is the part most comparisons get wrong. They put GreenGeeks' 12 month price next to Hostinger's 48 month price and call it a day. The two companies discount completely different terms, so the only fair way to compare them is term against term.

On a 12 Month Plan, GreenGeeks Is Cheaper

GreenGeeks only discounts the 12 month term. Its monthly, two year and three year options are all close to full price, so if you choose GreenGeeks, choose Annually at checkout. I walk through that screen on my GreenGeeks Black Friday page.

On a 48 Month Plan, Hostinger Is Far Cheaper

Hostinger saves its deepest discount for four year terms, and its Black Friday sale makes them deeper still. GreenGeeks does not sell a four year term at a discount at all.

If you know you will keep your site for years and you are happy to prepay, Hostinger is the cheaper host by a wide margin. If you would rather spend $35.40 today and decide about year two later, or you are waiting for GreenGeeks' Black Friday price, which was $1.95 a month last year, GreenGeeks is the smaller commitment.

Two differences matter most at the entry level. Hostinger Premium gives you three websites where GreenGeeks Lite gives you one, which is a real advantage if you run a couple of small projects. GreenGeeks Lite backs up daily where Hostinger Premium backs up weekly, which matters the day something breaks. Hostinger also leaves ecommerce out of Premium, while GreenGeeks includes WooCommerce on Lite.

At the top, GreenGeeks Premium adds a free dedicated IP and an AlphaSSL certificate, worth $147 a year on GreenGeeks' own figures, plus Redis object caching. Hostinger's Ecommerce Startup goes the other way, with an online store builder, unlimited products and 0% transaction fees built in.

Performance and Technology

Both hosts include built in WordPress caching and a free CDN, so for a typical blog or business site the speed difference you feel will come from your theme and plugins, not the host. Hostinger puts NVMe storage on its Unlimited and Ecommerce plans and has a wider choice of data center locations to choose from, which helps if your visitors are spread across continents. GreenGeeks isolates accounts in containers, adds an AI powered firewall and offers free malware cleanups, and it says it earned Top Tier status from WP Hosting Benchmarks in two WordPress price brackets.

I have deliberately not added a speed test table. Two hosts on the same web server, measured on one day, tell you very little, and the numbers go stale in weeks. What does not go stale is what each plan includes and what it costs.

Ease of Use and Support

GreenGeeks uses cPanel, the control panel most hosting tutorials are written for, so if you have used any traditional host before you will feel at home. Hostinger uses hPanel, its own panel, which is cleaner for beginners and puts WordPress, its AI website builder and email in one place, but means guides written for cPanel will not match what you see.

Both offer 24/7 support. GreenGeeks also has a phone line, 1-877-ECO-SITE, which matters to some people more than any feature. Both migrate an existing WordPress site for free. Both sit at 4.6 on Trustpilot, Hostinger from a much larger pool of reviews.

The Green Hosting Question

This is GreenGeeks' reason to exist. It works with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation to buy Renewable Energy Certificates equal to three times the electricity it uses, publishes the certificate, plants a tree for every new account and has been an EPA Green Power Partner since 2009. Your site still runs on the normal grid, but GreenGeeks puts three times that energy back as renewables.

If the carbon footprint of your website is part of your decision, or part of your brand, this is the single strongest reason to pick GreenGeeks over Hostinger, and it is one of the few green claims in hosting you can check yourself.

Black Friday 2026: Which Deal Is Better?

Hostinger's Black Friday sale is live now, from 19 October to 14 December, with Premium at $2.49 a month on 48 months, double AI credits and my code WPRAHUL stacking another 10% on top. The full breakdown is on my Hostinger Black Friday page.

GreenGeeks has not opened its 2026 sale yet. Last year it ran from 10 November to 3 December at 85% off, Lite $1.95, Pro $3.95 and Premium $5.95 a month for 12 months, and every recent sale has started earlier than the last. If you want GreenGeeks, the cheapest first year of the year is probably a few weeks away; everything I know about it is on my GreenGeeks Black Friday page.

My Recommendation

If you want one year of hosting from a host you can feel good about, buy GreenGeeks, ideally Pro at $4.95 a month, or wait a few weeks for its Black Friday price. If you want the cheapest hosting you can lock in for four years, buy Hostinger Premium on the 48 month plan and use WPRAHUL at checkout.
