Best Plugin to Run Your Own Affiliate Program on WordPress, Compared on Payouts and Fraud Checks

Best Plugin to Run Your Own Affiliate Program on WordPress, Compared on Payouts and Fraud Checks

FluentAffiliate is the best WordPress plugin for running a new affiliate program, and AffiliateWP is the pick if you need a full fraud suite and automatic payouts on day one. FluentAffiliate sells only lifetime licences, $199 once for one site. AffiliateWP renews at $299 to $599 a year after an introductory first year.

I installed the free versions of FluentAffiliate, SliceWP and YITH WooCommerce Affiliates on a fresh WordPress site. I registered a test affiliate and pushed a $99 referred order through each with an offline payment method, then priced all five plugins against Rewardful and FirstPromoter over three years.

Running a Program, Not Promoting One

This post is about software that runs YOUR affiliate program: affiliate signups, referral links, commissions and payouts. If you are an affiliate who wants to cloak and track outbound links, that is a link manager like Pretty Links, a different job.

The SaaS tools also cap you. Rewardful Starter covers up to $7,500 a month in affiliate revenue and FirstPromoter Starter up to $5,000; past that you move to the $99 a month plans. WordPress plugins never charge by revenue, which is the main reason to self host your program.

1. FluentAffiliate, the Best Value Affiliate Plugin

FluentAffiliate is a self hosted affiliate program plugin from WPManageNinja, the team behind FluentCRM and Fluent Forms. It suits course creators, plugin sellers and FluentCart or Fluent Forms users who want to pay once.

The setup wizard asks which store plugin to connect. FluentCart was selectable in the free version, while WooCommerce, SureCart and the LMS plugins sat greyed out because they are Pro integrations. Check this first: if you sell through WooCommerce, the free version will not track your sales.

I added a test affiliate from Affiliates, New Affiliate, opened the store through her referral link in a logged out browser and bought a $99 product with FluentCart's Cash payment method.

The visit logged at once. The referral appeared as $19.80, the default 20% rate, with status Pending, and flipped to Unpaid when I marked the order paid.

FluentAffiliate dashboard after a $99 test order: $19.80 unpaid commission, 1 visit, 1 referral and 100% conversion

One thing to check after the wizard: on my install the referral variable in Settings, Referral Settings was empty after setup, and no visits were tracked until I typed ref into it and saved.

The affiliate side is the best of the three free plugins I tested. A [fluent_affiliate_portal] page shows unpaid earnings, the referral link with a QR code, a link generator and every referral.

Payouts are manual in the free version: you create a payout batch, pay outside the plugin, and it records each payment. Version 1.7.0, released 28 October 2026, added one step PayPal payouts in Pro and a PayPal payouts file export for manual runs, per the changelog.

FluentAffiliate Pay Affiliates form with the Manual payout method in the free version and the note that one step PayPal payouts need Pro
  • Fraud checks: self referral blocking was already ticked on my install, refunded orders are rejected, new referrals can wait out a holding period before they become payable, and 1.6.5 added visit deduplication and per IP flood limits. There is no automatic fraud scoring.
  • Use cases: a course creator paying 30% on FluentCart sales, a plugin shop with renewal commissions, a coach paying flat fees on FluentBooking calls.
  • The catch: no multi-tier commissions, and the official FAQ still describes Stripe payouts as planned.

Every paid plan includes every feature, so the only choice is the site count. The price shown is early bird pricing, and the page runs a countdown, so check it before you budget.

2. AffiliateWP, the Most Complete Affiliate Plugin

AffiliateWP is the best known WordPress affiliate plugin, with no free version. It suits established programs that need fraud tooling, multi-tier and many integrations.

  • Use cases: a SaaS on WordPress paying recurring commissions, a program large enough that fake signups and cookie stuffing cost real money.
  • The catch: the features most programs need, recurring referrals and fraud prevention, sit on Pro, which renews at $599 a year. FluentAffiliate ships a one click migrator from AffiliateWP if you switch later.

3. SliceWP, the Best Free Affiliate Plugin for WooCommerce

SliceWP is a freemium affiliate plugin with a five step setup wizard. It suits WooCommerce, EDD or SureCart stores that want a working free program.

SliceWP
PricePro 1 site $169/yr (renews $229), Pro Plus 10 sites $259/yr (renews $349)
LifetimePro $429, Pro Plus $649

Paid addsPayPal payouts, store credit, coupons, recurring and lifetime commissions, multi-level, reports
WordPress.org98 out of 100 from 111 ratings, 10,000+ active installs

SliceWP's wizard connected WooCommerce, created the register and account pages and set a 20% rate. My referred $99 WooCommerce order with check payment showed up as a $19.80 commission marked Pending, waiting for the order to complete.

  • Use cases: a WooCommerce shop paying influencers, a membership site on MemberPress.
  • The catch: paying affiliates by PayPal and recurring commissions need the paid bundle, and there is no FluentCart integration.

4. Solid Affiliate, the WooCommerce Specialist

Solid Affiliate is built only for WooCommerce. It suits stores that want one click PayPal payouts on the cheapest plan.

Solid Affiliate
PriceStarter 1 site $149.60, Expert 3 sites $174.65, Pro 10 sites $224.70 first year. Renewals $374, $499, $749

Pro onlyFraud Prevention Suite, lifetime commissions, subscription renewal referrals, landing pages
Refund30 days
  • Use cases: a WooCommerce brand paying dozens of affiliates every month by PayPal.
  • The catch: nothing outside WooCommerce, and renewals cost more than double the first year.

5. YITH WooCommerce Affiliates, the Basic Free Option

YITH WooCommerce Affiliates has a free version on WordPress.org. It suits small stores that pay a handful of affiliates by bank transfer.

YITH WooCommerce Affiliates
PricePremium $179.99 a year
Free versionRegistration form, affiliate dashboard in My Account, one global rate, manual bank transfer payouts
Premium addsPer user and per product rates, coupons, IP logging, automatic payouts via PayPal or Stripe with extra YITH plugins
WordPress.org84 out of 100 from 19 ratings, 6,000+ active installs

In my test YITH logged the click from the referral link and stored the affiliate's token on the WooCommerce order.

  • The catch: automatic payouts need Premium plus a second paid YITH plugin, so the real price is higher than $179.99.

Rewardful and FirstPromoter, the SaaS Baseline

Both are hosted tools built around Stripe billing, better suited to SaaS than WordPress stores. I have used many affiliate dashboards as an affiliate, FirstPromoter ones included.

Start with FluentAffiliate. The free version is enough if you sell through FluentCart or Fluent Forms, and if you need WooCommerce, PayPal payouts or renewal commissions, the lifetime licence is $199 for one site while early bird pricing lasts.
