The pattern is consistent: Duplicator scales the discount with the tier, so the more expensive the plan, the bigger the percentage. UpdraftPlus applies one flat rate to everything. If you are buying a high tier, Duplicator's sale is worth far more.

Where the 65% Figure Comes From
Duplicator's own Black Friday pricing page showed Elite at $209.65, a $389.35 saving marked 65% Off, with Pro at 60%, Plus at 55% and Basic at 50%. So the headline is real, but it only applies to the top tier. Anyone quoting a flat 65% across the range is rounding in their own favour.
Against today's standing 50%, waiting for Black Friday is worth an extra $90 on Elite and about $40 on Pro. On Basic you would actually pay less in the sale than today.
Duplicator Pro and above also bundle WP Media Cleanup and the DB Optimizer, which used to be separate purchases. On a large site those two alone justify the tier jump.
UpdraftPlus Premium Pricing
UpdraftPlus moved to TeamUpdraft, which now sells UpdraftPlus alongside WP-Optimize and All-In-One Security. Pricing is per year and licensed by site count.

- Pick Duplicator if you move sites between hosts, build on staging and push live, or hand finished sites to clients. Its migration flow is the best in the category and the Black Friday discount on higher tiers is much deeper.

A flat 20% off all UpdraftPlus Premium plans, applied automatically. Worth noting the rate went up to 30% the following year rather than down, which is the opposite of what most plugins have done.
UpdraftPlus Black Friday Sale 2023 [Sale Ended]
20% off Premium, covering all site tiers. UpdraftPlus has never run a tier-scaled discount the way Duplicator does, so the saving is the same percentage whether you buy Personal or Enterprise.
How to Get the Best Price on Either Plugin
- Work out your site count first. Both plugins price purely by number of sites, so buying a tier above what you need is the most common waste.
- For Duplicator, wait for Black Friday if you want a high tier. The standing 50% is decent, but Elite and Pro get meaningfully cheaper in the sale.
- For Duplicator Basic, buy whenever. The sale rate and the standing rate land in the same place, so there is nothing to gain by waiting.
- For UpdraftPlus, wait. There is no discount at all today, and 30% is the recent rate.
